Wilma "Carole" Pennington Walsh, 82, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in Slidell.

Carole was born April 5,1944, in Columbus, Mississippi, to Louie Atwell and Wilma Pennington. She loved her mother and daddy dearly and helped tend to their business, Main Street Hardware, in Columbus, MS. She attended East Central Community College in Decatur, MS and in the winter of 1965, while stopping at a gas station, she met the love of her life, Larry J. Walsh. Their connection was instant and their story began almost immediately as they were married by January 8, 1966, in Butler, AL. The adventure took them many places, but by 1974, the family settled down in Slidell, LA. Carole was a loving and loyal wife to her faithful and hard-working husband, Larry, for 38 years. Together they raised three boys, worked hard, and owned a bobcat rental company in Slidell.  She was a loving but firm mother to her three sons and always tried to help them move forward. Carole was adventurous and had an uncanny sense of humor. It was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that this gift was most evident. She was "Granny" to them in every sense of the word. She was loving, laughing and open to silly faces and singing with joy. She enjoyed traveling and visiting new places with family. She even rode a Honda 250 motorcycle at one time together with her husband and his family as well as other friends. Carole was a member of the all-female Krewe of Selene for three years until 2009. She was employed by and retired as a St Tammany Parish school bus driver after 22 years of service (1985-2007). The school bus children and their safety was her priority. Carole loved her sisters and brother and looked forward to each and every visit and all the memories shared.

She loved her sons and grandkids very much and was very proud of all of them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry J. Walsh.

Carole is survived by three children, Anthony "Scott" Walsh, Kevin James Walsh, Emmett Keith Walsh; three grandchildren, Grace Alexandra Walsh, Wilma Elise Kitchen (Benjamin), Larry Jacob Walsh; two great-grandchildren, Theodore Kitchen, Isabella Kitchen; one brother, Artie Pennington (the late Mahala); two sisters, Claudia Rudd (Al), and Claire Rogers (Gary); and many, many other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell LA 70460, on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
